Rituals of Memory
Kimberly Blaeser's essay "Rituals of Memory" discusses her life experience as an American catholic and a Native American. Blaeser compares her friend's curly hair to our relationships to family, place, and community because connections with friends and family can't be broken or untangled. Blaeser argues that the stories retell define us. Blaeser uses her memory of memorial Days spent with the Legionnaires visiting cemeteries and the Indian burial grounds as an example of a time when her two cultures came together. Blaeser was raised as a catholic student. She would always go on adventures with her parents after school. All of Blaeser's catholic experiences were recorded on papers, and her dreams, memories, and stories of her Native American and Catholic cultures define who she is.
